Leaving On A Jet Plane

This time next week I will be frantically packing my bags and going over last minute checklists in my head. During the months of waiting for this moment, my departure date felt so far away but now that it’s dangerously close to being categorized as “hindsight”, I can hardly believe it’s really here. Well, it may be a little harder to believe if I didn’t have piles and piles of summer clothes, Spanish books, supplies, my passport and Costa Rica maps strewn all over the place.
Danielle and I left work early today to meet the rest of the family at a restaurant on the beach to celebrate my birthday. Donovan and Tim leave early in the morning to drive out to New Mexico for the summer and a few days later my parents leave for vacation so they wanted to get together before everyone left town. For the second time, I will be celebrating my birthday by myself in another country. Thankfully, birthdays aren’t a big deal to me so I really don’t care…I was able to spend a little time with family and friends so I’m good.
Maybe, just maybe, I should mention the fabulous gifts I got…scuba lessons from the family (which has been on my to-do list for years!) and a trip to Australia. From myself. I know, I know…I’m going to be a poor missionary in oh, about 7 days, but as of now God blessed me with a check I didn’t expect and an incredible deal! I can hardly wait…God really is too good to me. Three trips to Costa Rica and then when I get back for a break, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand and Hawaii. One of my coworkers was teasing me that it must be nice to have no responsibilities and no bills. My response…”exactly”. I’ve worked a 9 to 5 everyday since I was 21. Now it’s my turn for adventure…and I’m going to make the most of this path He’s leading me on, serving wherever I can along the way!

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

  1. 1 Corinthians 1 (King James Version) 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.I’ll miss you in Costa Rica. Have a wonderful time!
